Our papa holua is finally finished!
We cut, drilled, nailed, sanded, and lashed for two whole days!
The children learned a lot about measuring, planning, and calculating time.
After the prop for the opera is used, our class will take individual photos of
our attempts at riding it down the slopes of Mid-Pacific Institute!
Be sure to look for more photos in their portfolios.

Papa Holua Project: Stage 1 and 2:
We started by drawing a sketch of the Hawaiian sled we will be making for the opera and our Hawaiian studies. After spring break the students worked in teams of two to build mini replicas of the sled out of pretzel sticks. They added trees and lava rocks to make their sled scene more realistic. What a fun and exciting project. Next, the real thing! Be sure to look for more pictures as we begin our life size papa holua!

Our spring book report presentations are done. What an OUTSTANDING job everyone did!
We all enjoyed learning about new books, played board games, and "ooohed and ahhhhed" over new book covers and posters.
Excellent work!
